Canadian 15 Cedarstrip
This 15 foot boat is styled after the 1940's
sporty family runabouts so loved by cottagers on the lakes of
Ontario. Available as a five passenger two cockpit outboard,
they are built with a 5/16" planked cedar hull on 7/8"
by 7/16" half round white oak ribs, and cedar V joint or
mahogany plywood decks with appropriate yellow striping, mahogany
transom with oak bracing. Cockpit coamings are white ash; dashboards
are your choice of ash, cherry, oak, or bird's eye maple. Seats
are cedar or pine. All fasteners are of brass, bronze or stainless
steel, as required. Finished with your choice
of colour for bottom paint and your choice of colour/varnish
combinations for topsides, and varnished decks and interior (8
coats). We only use the highest quality Epifanes yacht paints
and varnish. Comes with chromed brass windshield frame and plate
windshield in glass or lexan, forties style bow light, stern
light, authentic push/pull light switch, period style steering
wheel, Morse steering controls, three torpedo cleats, two rope
chocks, six fender cleats, flag staff and Cdn. pennant style
flag, bow and stern eyes for trailering, bilge pump, and brass
builder's plate.
We will keep as faithful to the original building
methods as possible. The only places which we will vary will
be in areas which we have the benefit of history to tell us that
they were mistakes; such as using stainless steel screws in areas
where brass isn't strong enough, instead of mild steel as they
were originally built, or in using modern polysulphide seam compounds
for bedding the planks to the stem and transom, instead of muslin
soaked in white lead (illegal to use now). No corners are cut
in the choice of materials, or in the time spent on building
one of these boats.
Appropriate power for these boats will range
between 20 to 40 H.P. and will probably be determined by the
size for your lake and expected use. If power trim and tilt are
required, you probably won't get this on the smaller motors.
The only way we will sell one of these boats is with a four stroke
motor.
